Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald House holds a special place in my heart. The purpose of the RMH is to help families stay close to their sick children while they receive the medical care they need. Families at the RMH are given a free place to stay, food, support and much, much more. In the summer of 2010, I welcomed my son; Joseph “Bear” Wright, III into the world. Unfortunately when Bear was born he was not breathing; nor did he have a heartbeat. Fortunately, we knew in advance that there would be complications and the “Stork Team” at All Children’s Hospital in St Petersburg was ready. Over the next 2-3 weeks, Bear remained in the NICU at All Children’s Hospital. It truly was the most stressful time of my life. Fortunately the folks at RMH were there to help. The compassion shown by the staff & volunteers was amazing and I’m so thankful RMH was there to help my family when we needed it the most. Over the years I’ve taken Bear back to the RMH each Christmas to offer gifts and in 2014 we began participating in the “Adopt a Room” program.  It feels good to give back to an organization who was there for me, Bear and our family during a great time of need.
